Eating Disorders on Campus: Awareness, Recognition, and Connection

J.W. Jones Student Union, 3rd Floor Tower View DIning Room

Wednesday, September 27, 2017 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

This session for faculty and staff is presented by Dr. Casey Tallent, national collegiate outreach director for eating recovery center and former eating disorder treatment team coordinator at University of Nebraska - Lincoln.

Research estimates that nearly 1 in 5 students on campus are struggling with an eating disorder, but few are receiving the care they need. Eating disorders carry the highest mortality rate of all mental health diseases with nearly one person dying from an eating disorder every hour. Participants will learn about recognizing the signs and symptoms of eating disorders, dispelling common myths of eating disorders, assessing for risk level, inviting students to seek support, and connecting students to campus and community resources. Be part of the solution at Northwest Missouri State University by participating in this training.
