Relay for Life

Teams of Nodaway County residents will gather at Bearcat Stadium on the campus of Northwest Missouri State University from noon to midnight Saturday for full day of relaying against cancer. Games, music and live entertainment will encourage people throughout the day and some teams will sponsor creative fundraisers at their camp sites during the event.

The event begins at noon. A cancer survivor’s and caregiver’s lap to celebrate those who have survived cancer, are currently battling cancer, or are caregivers to survivors will begin at 6 p.m., and the Luminaria Ceremony takes place at 9 p.m. to honor the Maryville community’s cancer survivors and remember those lost to the disease. Participants will circle a track that is surrounded with glowing luminaria that bear the name of someone who has battled cancer.

Joel Osborn, a cancer survivor and a Northwest football assistant coach, will share his story at 8:30 p.m.
