The Madraliers, Northwest’s select choral ensemble, will present a concert at 8 p.m. in the Charles Johnson Theater.
The Madraliers chamber ensemble is a select choir of 38 undergraduate and graduate students who perform a variety of repertoire ranging from music of the Renaissance to contemporary composers. The Madraliers have been invited to perform for the Missouri Music Educators Association 74th Annual Conference/Workshop in January and for the American Choral Directors Association Southwest Division Convention in March. The concert will feature choral music which will be presented at these two conventions in the spring. The program will include:
Amor Vittorioso – Gastoldi; My Spirit Sang All Day – Finzi; Jauchzet dem Herrn – Pachelbel; La nuit en mer and Soir d’été – Badings; Papageno and the Prince – Mechem; Regina Coeli (from Cavalleria Rusticana) – Mascagni.
The concert will feature solo piano works of Chopin performed by Dr. Charles Badami, instructor of piano and accompanying. The piano repertoire will include: From Etudes, Op. 25: No. 1 in Ab major, No. 2 in F minor; Scherzo in B minor, Op. 20.
The Low Brass Ensemble under the direction of Dr. Ernest Woodruff will also perform two brass works on the concert: “Royal Fanfare” by Robert Langenfeld and “Lyric Piece” from Suite for Trombone Ensemble by Michael Hennagin.
The concert is free and the public is warmly invited to attend.
