Fundraiser dinner for Lizzy Smith

Horace Mann Laboratory School is hosting a free-will donation fundraiser dinner and auction to benefit one of its students who suffered a stroke.

The pizza and salad dinner to benefit Lizzy Smith will begin at 6:30 p.m., Friday, May 6, in the Horace Mann gym.

On March 14, Lizzy, 11, suffered a stroke that affected one third of her brain. She is undergoing therapy at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City.

Horace Mann invites people to donate desserts as well as goods and services for the charity auction. Volunteers also are needed to help set up and clean up.

All proceeds will go directly to the Smith family to help cover medical costs and other expenses.
