The Northwest Symphony presents its season finale concert "Joyous!" at 8 p.m. in the Ron Houston Center for the Performing Arts. The concert is free and open to the public.

The celebration of spring in symphonic sounds will feature Emmanuel Chabrier's irresistible "Marche Joyeuse;" the ecstatic "Slavonic Dances, op. 46, nos. 7 & 8," by Antonín Dvorák; Morton Gould's whimsical "Pavanne from Symphonette No. 2," featuring trumpet soloist Rachel Sneed, a senior instrumental music education major from Smithville; and exhilarating movie music from "Superman" and "The Magnificent Seven."

The program also will include Beethoven's sparkling "C Major Piano Concerto, 1st Movement," featuring piano soloist David Kinkennon, a graduate student from Iowa City, Iowa, who is pursuing his Master of Education in teaching music.
