DESCRIPTION:Gov. Jay Nixon will reflect on Northwests strong academic performance as well as his commitment to higher education during a visit to the campus. The governors appearance is scheduled for 1130 a.m. in the J.W. Jones Student Union Board Room on the Northwest campus.\n \nThe event is open to the public. Northwests National Public Radio affiliate KXCV will provide live coverage of Nixons address and it will be carried via a live web stream on Northwests website at www.nwmissouri.edulive. \n\nNixon will discuss how his plans to provide Missouris colleges and universities with additional performance-based funding will expand opportunities for students and ensure taxpayer investments yield the best possible returns. The governors fiscal year 2014 budget proposal includes an increase of 34 million for higher education through a performance-based funding model.
