DESCRIPTION:Lewis Diuguid an editorial board member columnist and letters editor at The Kansas City Star will be the featured speaker for Northwests Ploghoft Diversity Lecture at 7 p.m. in the Ron Houston Center for the Performing Arts. It is free and open to the public. \n\nDiuguid has been with The Star since May 1977 after graduating from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He also has served as vice president for community resources at The Star and is a certified diversity facilitator with the Newspaper Association of America. \n\nDiuguid has written a column for The Star since 1987 often focusing on education social justice and diversity issues. He also is the author of a 2004 book A Teachers Cry Expose the Truth About Education Today and a 2007 book Discovering the Real America Toward a More Perfect Union. \n\nThe Ploghoft Diversity Lecture series is funded through the generosity of Dr. Milton and Zella Ploghoft of Athens Ohio. Dr. Ploghoft a 1949 Northwest alumnus is professor emeritus at Ohio University and Mrs. Ploghoft completed her elementary and secondary education at Horace Mann Laboratory School at Northwest.
