SUMMARY:Northwest Jazz Festival
DESCRIPTION:High school and junior high jazz bands will perform throughout the afternoon in competition in the Charles Johnson Theater. All performances are free and open to the public. \n \nThe festival begins with a noon concert featuring the Northwest Low Brass Ensemble and trombone soloist Steve Dekker as well as the Northwest Jazz Ensemble with saxophone soloist Dr. Chris Beaty director of jazz studies at Eastern New Mexico University. The festival will conclude with an awards concert at 5 p.m. featuring Beaty and the Northwest Jazz Ensemble performing standard big band music.
